Once again if placed well, there should be no problem with the banner/buff disappearing when you go inside to kill him. You can also place the banner between one of the Frostwolf towers and Drek's building if you choose to rather cap/defend a tower than the graveyard. The best placement for the banner in my opinion is against the building that Drek is within because the banner/buff will not end up disappearing because of your range when you go in to kill him at the end. If you are quick enough you will be able to get down there before Galvangar is even killed, so you do not miss out of his honor. The strategy I personally use during Alterac Valley is rush down to Relief Hut, cap the graveyard and defend it. I do also have the guild perk buff to honor, so if your honor ends up being a little lower that is most likely the reason. Without the banner's buff Drek'Thar will give about 39 honor | With the banner's buff you receive about 45 honor. Without the banner's buff Captain Galvangar and the towers give about 30 honor | With the banner's buff you receive about 34 honor. While it isn't that much extra honor (only about a total of 25 honor) it is definitely worth doing especially when it is AV weekend because your banner should be off it's cooldown every new match and the honor will begin to add up. ^_^Ĭomment by 1096059I'm a little surprised that no one has mentioned that this item will actually give the extra 15% honor within Alterac Valley when Captain Galvangar, Drek'Thar and the towers are killed/destroyed. And it makes for good screenshots too, especially for 'first kill' screenshots for your guild's raids. If this is all you plan to use it for, the item's really not worth it, but if you're already carrying it around for one of the first two reasons, you may as well use it for this too.

You'll occasionally get some extra rep or xp, but it won't be a constant benefit. However, since you can macro it into a spell, you can use it on cooldown without really paying attention and pretty much forget you even have it. Unless you're in a group with other guildies who will use their banners too, or you spend extra time and effort to stay with your banner, you will only have periodic coverage. (The banner disappears if you go an extended distance from it, or die.)įinally, I expect the least common use will be when leveling or grinding a rep from killing small trash mobs. The banner cannot be targeted or killed by the enemy faction, but if they kill you, your banner gets removed. When defending an objective, especially in a place like Tol Barad or any place a large amount of kills occur in the same spot, plop it down for the extra honor. The second most common use will be in PvP (although for those more PvP oriented, this will probably be their most common use). Every little bit shaved off that grind helps. I used mine on as many Molten Core bosses as I could when I was farming it. This works with all tabards (except Guild rep tabards), and also works with rep from kills that don't require tabards, for instance Classic and BC raid zones which give rep. Depending on how long the run takes they could do it multiple times in one run, or other guildies can use theirs on other bosses. For instance, those who grind reps can plop this down right before a boss in a heroic run. I can see the most common use of this item being plopping it down right before a boss that gives rep is killed. Does not activate global cooldown as it is an item, so can be used in macros fairly well. However, the more of your guildmates that have one, the more likely that one of you will be able to place one when the others have theirs on cooldown. It does not stack with other guildmates' banners, or other guilds' banners, etc.Every other rep possible to be gained from a kill (including those triggered/adjusted by tabards) works with this banner fine. Even if that 'criteria' is to 'kill' something in a guild group, such as a boss in a heroic run or raid, the mechanics of Guild rep means that the banner will not increase it, even from 'kills.' It's unclear if this is intended or not or if it will be 'fixed' in a future patch. Due to the internal nature of the way that Guild rep works, Guild rep does not actually trigger on a 'kill': it triggers on completing a 'criteria'.It does not extend to bonus honor gained from any method other than kills. It does not extend to quests, either normal or daily. So xp, rep, and honor gains from KILLS ONLY are increased. It only increases gains that occur from kills. It works on all guildmates, even those who are not in your group.Comment by Thortok2000Let me try to answer all possible questions.
